A useful GEO and AEO checklist for UAE brands begins with an unfashionable truth: generative engine optimization and answer engine optimization do not replace SEO.
Google’s current guidance says the foundational SEO practices remain relevant for generative AI features. Pages still need to be crawlable, indexable, useful, technically sound, and eligible to appear with a snippet. There is no secret markup that guarantees citation.
The opportunity is to make your evidence easier for people and machines to retrieve, understand, and trust.
Work through nine layers:
Do not mass-publish generic posts. Google’s people-first content guidance explicitly warns against producing content across many topics mainly to attract search visits and against extensive automation without added value.
Before improving content, confirm that important pages can be crawled, rendered, indexed, and shown with a snippet.

Supporting pages should link toward the commercial owner and add a distinct answer—not repeat the same landing page in longer form.
People and answer systems need a page they can parse quickly.

The strongest AEO/GEO asset is often not another trend article. It is a precise explanation that helps a buyer make a decision.
Use one consistent company name, description, domain, logo, contact path, location language, and set of official profiles.
Connect:
Avoid fake author bios, inflated awards, invented clients, and claims that cannot be corroborated. Entity clarity is not keyword repetition.
Use JSON-LD to describe what is already visible. Common types include Organization, WebSite, WebPage, BreadcrumbList, Article or BlogPosting, Person, Service, and FAQPage where appropriate.
Google recommends JSON-LD when possible and says structured data must represent the visible main content. Its structured-data guidance also recommends testing during development and monitoring rich-result reports after deployment.
Structured data improves understanding and eligibility. It does not guarantee a rich result or citation.
Every important page should be reachable through crawlable HTML links from a relevant hub.
Use a simple cluster:
Use descriptive anchors. “AI automation cost in Dubai” gives more context than “learn more,” when it accurately describes the destination.
Publishing is the start of discovery, not the end.
Turn each strong article into:
Pursue mentions because the source and audience are relevant. Avoid paid link schemes, generic guest-post networks, and automated comment spam.
Track four layers.
Google introduced a dedicated generative AI performance report for eligible Search Console properties, showing impressions by page, country, device, and date. Use it as a visibility signal, not proof of citation quality or revenue.
Views without qualified movement are not the goal.
Fix canonical, redirect, crawl, sitemap, schema, and brand inconsistencies. Record current Search Console, generative AI, analytics, and lead baselines.
Choose the commercial pages that matter. List the cost, comparison, risk, implementation, and proof questions that support each one.
Create fewer, stronger pages. Add internal links in both directions. Validate the rendered HTML, schema, sitemap, and mobile experience.
Share each asset where the relevant audience already exists. Annotate publication dates, track queries and landing pages, and review contact quality—not just traffic.
